Welcome to the Official Site of the Prime Minister of the United Bobbesian Republic. There have been two Prime Ministers in the history of the Republic. Before the constitutional change, the Kingdom's highest elected office was the Preimership. Today this is one of the most powerful positions in government. Currently the Prime Minister's post is be held by the President until the National Freedom Party selects a new leader and thus a new Prime Minister. The National Freedom Party selected Michael Ross as leader after the 2000 election. He was Prime Minister from January 2000 to November 2001. Mr. Ross citied the slowing economy and other events to the reasons he should resign. Both houses reluctantly accepted his decision. After months of debating the 1955 Committee of the NFP has selected Joan Young to lead the Party in the Parliament. She assumed her new post on January 20, 2002. She will work with both houses and with the President to get the country back on the road to economic recovery. The National Freedom Party was the second most powerful party in the Coalition. The party was the driving force behind the Reform Act of Government and convinced the NDP to follow its lead. When the New Democrats decided to sign on, history was made. The NFP is the most popular voice in Parliament. Since the end of the Coalition, the NFP has held the Prime Minister position. In every election, the NFP has come up big in the House of Common Representives and is starting to have a large presence in the Senate. This is the party of the future of Bobbesian politics. |
